Santa Caterina, Siena

This is another one of the beautiful churches I found here. This is Santuario Di Santa Caterina, If I'm not mistaken santa Caterina is the patron saint of this city. This church is very simple in its architecture although it's very pleasing to the eye. I sure by now you all know I love arcades, roman columns and arches. Besides the classical architecture this church has the most beautiful frescoes in the two main praying rooms. Photography is not permitted, so you will have to make your way to Siena to see it for yourself. In the meanwhile please enjoy this India ink drawing I did of the exterior.

Just found this on wikipedia. It pertains to this same building:

"Sanctuary of Santa Caterina, incorporating the old house of St. Catherine of Siena. It houses the miraculous Crucifix (late 12th century) from which the saint received her stigmata, and a 15th century statue of St. Catherine."
